New Moon Solar Eclipse in Virgo October 2024
What an eclipse season this has been already! Let me preface this newsletter/weekly YOGISCOPE by saying that I am in the Asheville, NC area that was recently greatly impacted by Hurricane Helene, which began right at the midpoint between two eclipses. Because of how personal this is for me, this newsletter may take a turn to be dissecting that event astrologically a bit, but I will try to stay on topic, because I owe you an eclipse report, after all!
I recognize that not everyone was impacted by (or maybe has even heard of) this event - and isn't that how eclipse season feels? We're all experiencing major shifts, many of them collective, but most of them deeply personal.
Last Thursday, September 26th, I kept my kiddos home from school, because we had already experienced so much rain that sink holes were forming in my town on Wednesday night. Thursdays are the days I usually put out YOGISCOPES, and last week I had been planning to write about Jupiter Retrograde in Taurus, because it is deeply related to this eclipse season. Uranus is also in the mix.
You may refer back to the Jupiter in Taurus resources for the time being--all that was going through my head was that with Jupiter in Taurus, historically we often see "worst natural disasters in history". So, it felt ironic that I was kept from writing about that by something that turned out to be the worst natural disaster this area has seen in recorded history.
Astrology works! In other news...the eclipse!
Now, I recognize that I'm writing this PAST the actual eclipse. But I decided to still put it out because now that we're on the downswing from it, hopefully you are more able to reflect with clarity on whatever may be happening in YOUR life. Hopefully, in the meantime, you were also able to revisit the Ecipse Season Report, more generalized horoscope.
New Moon Solar Eclipse in Virgo (Hasta Nakshatra) - October 2, 2024
This New Moon Solar Eclipse in Virgo on October 2nd may have passed, but its effects are still reverberatingâand now is the perfect time to reflect on what shifts itâs activated for you.
The eclipse occurred in Hasta Nakshatra, a nakshatra known for its connection to manifestation, precision, and the power of the hands. Hastaâs energy asks us to focus on what we are buildingâboth literally and metaphorically. Itâs about creating with intention, honing your skills, and bringing your visions into reality with care and craftsmanship. This eclipse has given us a chance to reset and refocus on what truly matters.
Being in Virgo, this eclipse carries the energy of practicality and refinement. It encourages us to streamline our routines, pay attention to the details, and focus on how we can create stability in our lives. Virgoâs meticulous energy asks you to assess your daily habitsâare they supporting your long-term goals? Itâs time to fine-tune your life, especially in the areas of health, work, and self-care.
But with Jupiter retrograde in Taurus, this is not a time for quick fixes. Jupiter is asking us to slow down and reflect on how our values align with what weâre building. Are we pursuing material stability at the expense of our deeper purpose, or are we creating a life that honors both the physical and spiritual? With Taurus in the mix, grounding becomes essentialâyouâre being called to build something sustainable, not fleeting.
Eclipse Reflection:
Now that the intensity of the eclipse has passed, take a moment to reflect on what themes came up for you. What changes or insights have emerged? This solar eclipse, although in Virgo, was not just about getting your house in order. It was about aligning your external world with your internal valuesâand thatâs where the magic happens.
Overall Energies:
- Precision and Manifestation: This eclipse in Virgo, especially in the Hasta Nakshatra, is all about focusing on the details and manifesting your goals with care. Itâs a time for refinementâpay attention to how you are shaping your life, especially in work, health, and personal routines.
- Practicality Meets Spiritual Growth: With Virgoâs grounded energy and Jupiter retrograding in Taurus, this eclipse highlights the balance between building material stability and aligning with your spiritual values. Itâs a time to ask yourself whether your practical efforts are in harmony with your deeper purpose.
- Building Sustainable Foundations: The combination of Virgoâs disciplined energy with Jupiter in Taurus asks us to construct something lasting and meaningful. Whether it's in your career, relationships, or personal development, focus on slow and steady progress.
- Reassessing Daily Routines: This eclipse may highlight where your daily habits are out of alignment with your long-term goals. Itâs time to make adjustments, refine your systems, and ensure that your routines support your overall well-being.
- Integration of Earthy, Practical Energy: Virgo and Taurus bring a grounded, earthy energy to this eclipse, asking you to integrate practicality with self-care and a deeper connection to nature.
Yoga Practices:
- Hand-Focused Practices: In line with the Hasta Nakshatra, incorporate practices that involve the handsâsuch as mudras, mindful gestures, or working with props to enhance connection and precision. Hasta means âhand,â so practices like Hasta Mudra (hand gestures) or even activities like journaling or drawing can be powerful during this time.
- I just want to point out that, here in Asheville, at the time of the eclipse, we were hugging friends, heart to heart, and lending helping hands. This felt like a beautiful expression of the Hasta energy, and I hope you are able to incorporate that into your life wherever possible this week! We still have most of a lunar cycle before eclipse season is technically over, so there's time to incorporate!
Journal Prompts:
- What small habits or routines in my life need refinement in order to align more closely with my long-term goals?
- How am I using my creative abilities (literally or metaphorically) to shape the world around me? What can I improve?
- Where in my life am I prioritizing material stability over spiritual growth, or vice versa? How can I create a better balance?
- What projects, goals, or desires have I been putting off that need my focused attention and care to bring into fruition?
- In what ways can I cultivate a more sustainable approach to my health, work, or relationships to create long-lasting stability?
