2. Gurus and Mentors, Lineages and Certifications: Discerning your Path
Do you need that degree or certification? How are experts made? Let's unpack how to discern who to follow on the path you want to put yourself on, and how to distinguish yourself as an expert in your field--explained from my perspective as a yoga teacher, but applicable to entrepreneurship in general.
If you want to get cerebral: Who owns universal truths, or the frameworks by which they are conveyed?
Or, from a practical, business standpoint: How do we know who to listen to, who to trust, who we consider our teachers, mentors, guides, leaders, experts. How do we distinguish ourselves as experts in our field?
In this episode we'll explore those questions from my experience with the yoga industry and trades (tile industry specifically), but I think the topics are valid for anyone that considers themselves an entrepreneur,
I also unpack the pros and cons of having governing bodies for certain paths, like Yoga Alliance, IAYT, etc.
