2024.06.18 full moon in sag summer solstice
===
[00:00:00] Well, my friend, we are at the top of the inhale of the year and I'll explain more. Of what I mean by that momentarily. Um, hopefully it'll make good sense. What, how that, how we can understand that in our bodies. What exactly the top of the inhale feels like energetically. And then also of course, astrologically and I are vertically. Where we're at me year, what is going on in our lives that might mirror the seasons that might near what's going on in the cosmos, because as always as above. So below.
[00:00:36] So this is your Yogi scopes podcast, episode four, the full moon. Inside the serial Sagittarius that's happening on the summer solstice here in the Northern hemisphere. I suppose it's the winter solstice. If you're in the Southern hemisphere, I have more to say about that. And how to maybe interpret. What it means for you, but first I'd like to extend you a warm welcome to the OB scopes podcast.
[00:01:01] I'm your host. Rosemary Holbrook. I'm a Vedic sidereal astrologer. And assumed to be yoga therapist. One of these days, I'm not going to be saying that soon to be part anymore and qualifying it. I have like two more clients worth. Of documentation to turn in. And then I think that's it for my certifications.
[00:01:21] So what that means the yoga therapy certification. At least the one I'm taking governed by the international association of yoga therapists will give me the CIA Y T credential. And if you're unfamiliar with that, It is, uh, 800 hours, whereas to become a yoga teacher, the bare minimum is usually 200 hours. So above and that's the prereq prerequisite to become a yoga therapist. Um, I've also taken now I'm a 500 hour R. R Y T yoga teacher. Um, and then the other 800 hours over and above that 500.
[00:01:59] So it's a lot, if that puts it in perspective, it's a lot of training it's holistic, but what that matters for you is I use all of that training and. Knowledge and skillset to help you. Hopefully. Embody the astrology, if that makes sense, because many of us. That are into astrology. Um, because I think that's kind of a prereq prerequisite to even be here. You have to be one of those people that is at least curious about astrology, because there's a whole other set of people out there who were like, that's a bunch of crap and think it's ridiculous. And so if you're one of those people. Um, this probably doesn't apply to you, but if you're in interested in astrology and interested in. Applying it to your life in a way that maybe helps you get more direction. Or helps you just live more intentionally or use it as a tool for self study, or I've also heard folks or experiences myself, use it as a tool to judge yourself and others less around you. Um, those are some things that astrology can be good for, but on the flip side, on the maybe shadow side or more negative side, without, in my opinion, without pairing it with yoga. In this way that I try to help you do here on this podcast, it can get a little bit heady, a little bit cerebral, a little bit like out of touch with the realities of. Our lives, because if you're listening to this podcast, And you're a monk. I want to hear from you, um, because that's fucking cool. But if you're listening to this podcast, odds are, I guess, monks have cell phones these days.
[00:03:39] Um, Maybe. I don't know. I don't really know any monks personally, but. Odds are you're listening to this on your cell phone. Or maybe your Alexa or something like that. And to have a cell phone, you probably have to pay for that cell phone, which means you have a job, which means. Um, you're a householder, right?
[00:04:00] Or something. Maybe you're a stay at home. Mom. I don't know. Uh, what your set up is, but most of us, if you're here listening to this. Are not monks. We're not ascetics. We're not intentionally removing ourselves from the world. Whereas most of this philosophy. That all of this stuff comes from yoga. Or your Veda Vedic astrology is kind of. Definitely buy, but potentially also kind of for. Monks and people who want to live a life of spiritual renunciation.
[00:04:36] Right. So how do we reconcile that in our life? If we're not going to be covering non, see it, that's what I'm often trying to help you with. And that's. Mostly what we work with in yoga therapy too, is like, how can we apply this, this beautiful wisdom in a way that works for your life, that doesn't require you to rearrange your life, to become a spiritual renunciate.
[00:04:57] So. I'll have more to say about that in a coming episode. Um, now let's talk about the full moon. So that was a really drawn out. Introduction to the podcast, but we'll always end with yoga practices and journal prompts. And I think it's also helpful to remind all of us, no matter if you're brand new to the podcast or if you've been here awhile, like, why are we doing this? It's fun.
[00:05:21] Sure. But there's also good reason for trying to think of astrology and stay on track as a spiritual practice. In this way. As more than just a spiritual practice as something that's going to help your life in that's house. So hopefully that made sense. Um, so this full moon is coming up on Friday, July, June, not July. Uh, we're not in July yet.
[00:05:40] June 21st, 2024. At 9:07 PM. Eastern time is the moment of the peak. Of the full moon. And so that is the, the astrological peak. So that's the moment when the moon and the sun directly oppose each other. In the night sky. So when they come to the exact same degree, is that time that I pull. And so that's Eastern time and it doesn't really matter if you're in a different time zone, like whatever the moon is in its full phase from like Thursday to Sunday, really, or whatever, you know, like it's, it's like a three-day span.
[00:06:15] It's fine. If you can do a full noon practice really any time this week is, is great. We'll serve the purpose that, that we're here to try to do to work with these. Energies. So I always. Pull that time of like, when's the peak, but just know that it's not that serious. You don't have to be like, Setting up to do your full moon practice right at 9:07 PM.
[00:06:38] Because sometimes they're like in the middle of the night, right. And we value sleep. Or at least I do. And so this full moon is happening inside Dariel Sagittarius. And I'll say more about what that means. Um,
[00:06:54] And so just a couple things I want to point out that relate to that a little bit, tangentially, but matter. In my opinion. So first of all, This full moon being on the summer solstice that does not always happen. Um, because there's 13 moon cycles in a 12 month calendar year, the summer solstice is marking a phase in the sun cycle. And the full moon is marking a phase in the moon cycle.
[00:07:27] Right? If that makes sense, but both of them, both of these. Events a full moon and the summer solstice. Mark the peak, right? The top of the. Accumulation or the top of the energy cycle. If that makes sense. That's why I started off the podcast saying this full moon. We're at the inhale, the top of the inhale of the year.
[00:07:51] So in the breath cycle, Um, it's really fun to compare the moon cycle, the, the season cycle to the breath cycle. And it makes a lot of sense. Um, and I've actually had some students in my in-person classes asking some questions about this. Um, so hopefully I'll answer any questions you have in my explanation.
[00:08:13] Um, because a lot of folks do, what's called reverse breathing. Where if you're out of breath, let's say you've been running or something. When you are out of breath because you've been exercising running, or because you just chronically are a shallow breather, which is okay. We just want to find that out so that we can correct it.
[00:08:31] If that's the case. Um, it's common. Even for folks that come to yoga. Um, so if you're out of breath because you've been running or whatever, Uh, long COVID. I don't know, lots of reasons could, could be there for why. If you're out of breath in breath is shallow. When you inhale the rib cage will rise and the belly will go in. So the inhale is also. Scientifically called inspiration.
[00:09:00] Whereas exhale is called expiration. Um, Sometimes folks will use those words for the inhale and exhale. So.
[00:09:10] If we want to breathe in a, not out of breath way, and I'm not saying the goal is to never be out of breath. I'm just saying in a general sense. If you're just chilling and not doing cardiovascular exercise or whatever. Hopefully your breath matches the not out of breath way, which is on the inhale. Your belly expands, your chest rises.
[00:09:35] So instead of that, Inhale belly goes in and chest rises. Inhale. It all expands. And so this is where the point of confusion is. We think of inhale. Energetically because we're expanding right. Um, As. Where the work is, if that makes sense, because. Inhale is the growth. It's the inspiration. It's the, when things are growing. And.
[00:10:07] So folks sometimes think that that means that's where the activity is.
[00:10:12] Right? Is, is on the inhale. But the activity, the work is on the exhale. And so this is true in a muscular. Body mechanics sense. And also, hopefully I will paint the picture for you, how it's also true from an energetic sense. And that's kind of the vibe of this full moon. So stick with me. This is a little bit nerdy, but it's fun, right? Um, because if you're into yoga, you're into breath. Like, right.
[00:10:40] So. On the inhale. And you are expanding, hopefully belly chest all the way up to the collarbones. All of that is expanding. But get this muscles don't push. They only pull. So when you exhale, all of that is contracting. So belly button to spine that's abdominals, engaging. Potentially also pelvic floor engaging. And then your intercostal muscles, your muscles between the ribs. And some other accessory muscles that you have that, that do breathing.
[00:11:14] It's not that important. To know, like their names. More just that their function. And we want it to happen this way. When you exhale those muscles, engage to squeeze out the old stale air. Right. And so that's what gets confusing to people. I think I had a student point out to me that she was like, oh, I thought I was supposed to be like pushing my belly out to breathe in or something when we're practicing that. Um, and no, we want to exhale and feel that engagement from a body mechanics standpoint, the exhale is the contraction.
[00:11:44] I often, I also teach workout classes. And I often say, exhale is your power move. Exhale is when you're engaging. It's also like martial arts or stuff. They teach you to go hoo, right? When you make a strike or a hit or whatever, I don't know. I've only taken like one martial arts class ever. And my life, but they do that was like the first thing they taught us in the one. That I did, which was Krav Maga. That I went with some friends back when I lived in the Raleigh area. Anyway. Um, The exhale is when you want to feel that engagement, right?
[00:12:17] This is from a purely body mechanics standpoint. Right now. And I'll I'll help. Hopefully. I connect this to the moon cycle. In a second. Um, So inhale. You're relaxing, the muscles that you just engaged because muscles don't push. They only pull. Right. And so on, the exhale is when you're doing the muscular engagement and doing the working, the inhale just as important is releasing the squeeze of those muscles to let them expand. And so what's happening. In your lungs. Is. When you inhale. When the belly moves out and the rib cage expands, what it does is it creates more space. And you're not bringing the air in actively.
[00:13:04] You are creating a vacuum. Because. You've just opened up volume, opened up space by expanding the rib cage, expanding the belly. So that. There is a pressure differential, and this is where yoga teachers sometimes say the universe breathes you. You're not the one actively doing the breathing. You just create the space by relaxing muscles on the inhale. Um, for the air to come in because of physics because of a pref pressure differential.
[00:13:36] And so when you squeeze the muscles on the exhale, you're also changing that space. Whereas, you know, you're like squeezing out a balloon right on the exhale. You are actually squeezing out the air, if that makes sense, but on the inhale, you're just creating space for things to Russian. And so before I get back to the summer solstice and the full moon, I just want you to think for a moment. There is a concept also in like, I think this is a chemistry concept, more than a physics one. Um, called entropy. And entropy is. Um, The level of chaos, basically. Um, you can, it's a measurement and maybe I'm not doing that justice in my explanation, but the idea that I want to pull out is that. Um,
[00:14:29] There's always growth.
[00:14:30] Like if you, you know, like an abandoned building or something and nature just like takes back over. Like you don't have to try for that. You don't have to try for weeds to grow through the concrete or for, um, Things to just get added to your plate for growth to come in. Right? Like that just happens.
[00:14:50] And that's kind of similar to the inhale. But on the exhale, you have to try to keep the weeds from growing through your concrete and messing up your driveway or whatever you have to. Like, gosh, my husband can probably relate. We have a big farm and he's been weed eating. Every day. For the last like month. Because there's just no end in sight to the weed eating.
[00:15:14] If we want to keep. Our grassy open areas, grassy and open and, and keep them from getting taken back over by forest. And from a land management perspective, there's like, Reasons for that, a big one for us as the ticks, we want to keep the tick population down in the way to do that is, um, By keeping the grass cut short.
[00:15:33] And so does that make sense that. Related to your inhale, like you could probably think of. To places in your life where things just pile up, they just pile on. And without you being intentional and releasing. And squeezing out and ringing out and, um, decluttering and whatever it is without you being intentional about that, the entropy or the chaos will just increase. On bridled, right.
[00:16:00] Nature will always take back over and that's similar. Two. The inhale. Where. You're not the one doing it. It just happens when you relax. Your muscles. If that makes sense. And so getting back to that, this full moon. Being that as the full moon. So the full moon is kind of all ready related to like the top of the inhale and the breath cycle. Um, but it's also the summer solstice.
[00:16:29] It's the longest day of the year short as night. It's when here in the Northern hemisphere, we have the most sunlight that we'll have all year. And. So it's the very top of the inhale. So if you think about your breath cycle, Really. We want the breath to have four parts, not just to not just inhale and exhale. We want at the moment of the top of your inhale. There's a pause. And then you begin exhaling and then there's another pause before you begin inhaling. And so that pause, believe it or not is always happening. Because if it wasn't, you would be inhaling and exhaling at the same time.
[00:17:11] So there is a moment, however, small, where you're done inhaling and you're not yet exhaling and where you're done exhaling and you're not yet inhaling. So there's a moment. And in most cases, when we're just living life, we're not maximizing that moment. But when we come into a yoga practice, often we will practice.
[00:17:32] What's known as comebacks. pranayama, practicing that pause, lengthening that pause. There are various different ratio breaths. That, um, Will manipulate that pause in different ways in relation to the inhale and exhale. Right. If that makes sense. And so the summer solstice and also this full moon. Any full moon in general. Is related to that pause at the top of the inhale. And to feel it in your body.
[00:18:04] This is really getting into the yoga practices that I have for. This episode, and I'll say some more things about the astrology. In a second, but this feels important and I'm on a roll. So I'm going to keep going with it. To feel it in your body. I think of the moment. At the top of when you're swinging, like on a swing set. You know, um, like on a playground, sweet and cassette.
[00:18:28] If you have one of those. This would be fun to try you get going, like decently fast, you get going in a good rhythm. There is a moment when you come forward on the swing. Where. You might just feel a little bit of lift a little bit of weightlessness before you start going back the other direction. And that's related. To that pause. Between the inhale and the exhale. And so if you want to practice it, can you cultivate or try to make contact with. That feeling of weightlessness, that feeling of just pure release. Um, Between the inhale and exhale.
[00:19:09] And so we'll explore, like, I'll say more about it when we get to the yoga practices section. But that's what if I could sum up this full moon? In like one vibe, it would be that. And so hopefully I did justice to explaining it. Um, but let's say some more things about why that's the vibe. And so. That relates to the summer solstice, being the top of the inhale of the year. Um, but then also this year in particular, which is, this is common for June, but sometimes it varies.
[00:19:40] Like I was saying, cause there's 13 moon cycles in the 12 calendar months. And the 12 calendar months are based on the solar cycles. So they don't always link up because there's 12. Months 12. Seasons of the sun, if you will. And 13 moon cycles per year. So it's not always this way, but this year, Um, we began the year, our first. Moon cycle of the year was a new moon in Sagittarius.
[00:20:06] It was in a different dark shocker, but it was in Sagittarius still. And so now we're at the full moon. Six months later, also in Sagittarius and also it being the summer solstice. It's that point in the year where we want to kind of consider. What growth we have experienced thus far in the year and kind of reevaluate and say, am I still going the direction? That I want to be going, what intentions that I set for the year that I'm maybe still on track with versus not still on track with like, how can I reevaluate?
[00:20:41] So. Um, that's a factor, another factor. Feeding into the energy. The vibe of this full moon is the fact that Saturn is going retrograde. Very very soon. And I'm going to put out that's the next episode I'm going to put out. Is a Saturn retrograde. Special to just kind of revisit some of what might be coming up and what that might mean.
[00:21:05] So I'll say more about it soon. But basically in a nutshell, the vibe of that Saturn retrograde will be reassessing your longterm goals. And not only just that, not only your long-term goals, but like what are you doing every day to get you there or to take you further away from those long-term goals?
[00:21:23] Um, because. Especially from a Saturn perspective. Reaching your long-term goals is the accumulation. Have a bunch of different actions, right? Rather than like one big overnight sweeping success. It takes 10 years to become an overnight success. Is, uh, something I've heard before that really rings true.
[00:21:45] It's like we hear these stories of overnight successes, but what we don't hear is all the hardship. They. Experienced and probably also failure. That whatever overnight success person experienced to get them to that point where they had whatever windfall or lucky break or whatever. Um, There's usually a bigger backstory. And that's the vibe of Saturn is like, Um, Another quote that like it's coming to mind is luck is where preparation meets opportunity. So, what are you doing to prepare yourself for whatever opportunity you're hoping will arise for yourself?
[00:22:24] Like if you were to become an overnight success. And whatever it is, you're trying to be an overnight success in what are you doing today to ready yourself and read your life for that? And so that's a, an undercurrent. Happening right now as well. And then the other. Astrological thing. That's impacting or related to this full moon is the fact that Sagittarius is ruler.
[00:22:49] Jupiter. Is in tourist right now and just move there about six weeks ago. So not that long ago. And I would encourage you to revisit that if you haven't. Uh, listen to the, the Jupiter and tourist episode. If you. Haven't revisit it if it's been a minute, because that really, I would think matters for this. Full moon. Um, and so Sagittarius. Being ruled by Jupiter. Which is a planet of expansion of planet, of generosity and blessings.
[00:23:26] And so. That's what we usually associate with Jupiter or the great Benefic. We're like, yeah. It's all good things because Jupiter expansion more is better. Right. But I just want to give the little caveat that if you've ever heard the phrase Mo money Mo problems, right? Like. More is not always better.
[00:23:44] Sometimes more is just more. And that kind of gets to what I was saying with this being like the top of the inhale of the year. Um, There's always more, there will always be more of. Fill in the blank. And sometimes it takes a really discerning person. Two. Stay on track. Despite all of the, maybe like, Good opportunities that may not be the best opportunity. If that makes sense. And so. That's Jupiter. The ruler is Sagittarius. Sagittarius. Partially because of the fact that it's Jupiter ruled, um, It's also a fire sign. Uh, Has this vibe of.
[00:24:35] Like philosophy.
[00:24:37] It has a connection to like, what are your highest ideals and what do you like aspire to? What are your beliefs? Right. And so that's Sagittarius. And so not only are we at this point in the year where we're like, okay, we've had all this expansion that just kind of happens because that's the natural way of things.
[00:24:54] There's always expansion. Have we expanded in a direction that maybe takes us away from our highest ideals. And then. The NOC Shastra. Tra where this. Full moon is happening is a, it's like a smaller section of Sagittarius. So I'm going to say about it right now is Moolah. And so maybe you've heard of the Moolah Daraa. Chakra, which is the root chakra Moola means root. And. Um, It's symbolized Moolenaar Shakara is symbolized by basically a root ball.
[00:25:33] Like if you've ever seen a plant, like if you ever buy a tree or something, it's got a root ball. Uh, And, and so it's like the snarly, like tightly wound, usually thing. And it's under the surface. It's the root right. And so the ruling planet of Moolah. Is K2. And so K2 also brings this. Like K2 is a body without a head.
[00:26:00] So K2 is all about embodiment and, um, Sort of cutting down to like the most.
[00:26:11] Important or most relevant, I guess, spiritual truth. Um, so this is just all these different things, like adding into this vibe of like, What are your highest ideals? Uh, what ways have you expanded either towards that or away from that? And how can you get back to rooting into that truth of what your highest ideals are?
[00:26:33] And. Um, And cut away the excess, if that makes sense, because. K2 the connection to K2. The highest ideals thing is the connection to Jupiter. Right. And then, so like I pointed out momentarily ago, Sagittarius is ruler is in tourists right now, which is this other. Earth sign that. Is like another astrological happening pointing you towards, like, how are you grounding in your truth?
[00:27:02] How are you grounding into your own true values so that you can expand more in that direction rather than in like whatever random direction that may be less. Aligned with your values because there's always more things to do. Always more things to add on or say yes to. If that makes sense and much like the breath cycle. The inhale is actually the passive one. Like adding on and saying yes to things is the passive. Thing to do and cutting away and ringing out and saying, no. And removing is the work part. If that makes sense.
[00:27:40] And so that's what this full moon is about. It's that? Can you saver the peak of the inhale? Can you save her the peak of the year? And consider how you're going to.
[00:27:53] Streamline going forward. And I'll say more about that in a second. One last thing I want to point out before I recap what the overall energies and the yoga practices and journal prompts. Is that the ruling deity? Of Moolah knocks, Yatra. Tra is. Um, the goddess of destruction, basically. So, and just also related to that. That this is all where the moon is.
[00:28:18] And we're also talking about the sun, cause we're talking about the summer solstice and with any full moon, the sun is completely opposing the moon in the sky. Whereas a new moon there at the same exact degree point in the sky at a full moon, they're opposing each other. So the sun is over there in Gemini. In our DRA.
[00:28:40]
[00:28:40] and so Gemini. Is partly about holding. So, you know, it's the twins, so it's kind of like holding two things at once. It can, it can bring like non-duality kind of vibes Gemini. Like, can you hold two things equally? True. At the same time. But then our DRA. Is a teardrop. Ruled by the God of storms. So, um, It's a really good, like the vibe right now is high of like, you're seeing like a really good thunderstorm and I recognize not everywhere has thunderstorms because I had a really good friend. And like middle school and high school who moved to North Carolina, where I grew up in I've lived my entire life. From. Somewhere else from Alaska where they apparently didn't have thunderstorms, like period.
[00:29:31] And so whenever she experienced her first thunderstorm, it was like a terrifying experience for her. Whereas like us southerners were like, oh, it's a good storm. Let's sit on the porch and like, watch it. And so sometimes like tree branches, fall and stuff. Um, during a storm. And that's sort of this vibe of like clearing away. K, what branches can you kind of let fall away in the storm to be more aligned and rooted in your truth going forward?
[00:29:59] So that really leads us well into. The overall energies of this. Um, Full moon.
[00:30:12] So the first of those being basically we're at this, like mid-year check-in point, like what intentions did you set out? Uh, the year with, and how are you doing with those things? Did the year turn out like you thought it would cause I'm betting in some ways, yes. And in some ways, no. Because that's usually always the case.
[00:30:31] Um, And the better you get at being intentional and goal aligning the closer you will get to, um, setting good goals that are attainable and realistic. Right. Um, and so it's a work in progress. It's a practice. And then still, sometimes it's like sometimes a year is just surprising and sweeps you off your feet. In good or bad ways or both. Um, or all of that all the time.
[00:30:58] Right? So we're at the mid-year, it's, it's a good time to just check in with like, when's the last big intention you set and how you're doing and how can you adjust accordingly? And then the other big energy is this streamline energy. Get rid of the excess, right. Like I've been talking about, we're like at the peak, we're at the top of the inhale and we're getting ready to begin that phase of contraction, that phase of turning inwards and much like in body mechanics, that's the power move.
[00:31:25] That's the, when you're actually using muscles and doing work. Whereas with the, the inhale, the expansion, it kinda just happens. Like nature just takes back over. Right. And so. That was actually just a little personal disclosure. I usually set a word for the year and streamline was my word for the year. Is my word for the year 2024. And I have like a whole process. For how I do that.
[00:31:53] I share that in my. Um, Actually end of the year when I released the scopes planner for the next year, um, we usually have an event it's usually online this year. I think it may only be in person and I'm getting ready to release the details for that. Very soon. Um, And you can come and stay on my farm here. And it's a very limited space. They always sell out.
[00:32:19] So anyway, um, I'll say more about that later as we go, but I said a word for the year. Maybe you do too. Maybe you want guidance with it. Maybe you don't. Um, but streamline. Hearkens back to, for me back to my swimming days, I swam. My whole life competitively, um, all the way through school. And then I coached. For a while until I had kids in my own.
[00:32:41] And it's just not compatible. Anyway, when you do a streamline in swimming. That's like the diving position. Call it streamline. And. You are making your body is it's like to dossena. In some ways, mountain pose, you're making your body as tight and engaged as possible. It is work. It is every muscle in your body is engaged and. That's what makes you more. Aerodynamic in the water to get to where you're headed, which is the other side of the pool and swimming.
[00:33:12] But, um, you know, in life it's like, what goals are you reaching towards? Very Sagittarius thing. Like what are your highest ideals, highest goals? And how can you make yourself as compact and streamlined? As possible, um, which in a body sense is your muscles are highly engaged when you're doing that.
[00:33:34] It is work. Right to do a good streamline. And so that's the vibe of this full moon is like, how can you streamline? How can you start pulling things in and engaging different parts of your being to get rid of excess? Right. And. Then, can you also reflect on your beliefs and ideals and how you're, you're aligning with that?
[00:33:56] And so I had a whole thing about it in the Jupiter and tourists episode. Um, Yeah. And so you can revisit that. Um, hopefully also the journal prompts will help and I'm going to get there in a second. And so can you also simplify your life by eliminating excess and distractions? Can you stay grounded and true to your roots? Um, In terms of maybe your values, but maybe also like root cause of like what's important to you.
[00:34:27] Root cause of disease. Like these kinds of things. They're all coming up with that Moolah energy. So the yoga practices. Our in, in all the ways possible. Can you connect to your base into your feet? Can you feel that sense of rootedness? And streamline energy that in an up energy of. All the different shapes and every different shape that you can. Can you also explore the top of your inhale? And some breath practice.
[00:34:56] Um, And then another good thing for your yoga practices, warrior two and its variations. Like, so if you come to the full moon event this Friday, We'll be exploring that as sort of like our peak pose. Um, so peak pose sequencing. If you're a yoga teacher is a good thing to use for this full moon for the solstice.
[00:35:17] Um, And then just like body first therapies, which is pretty much what yoga. Is, but, um, this is not the time of the episode to be going on this tangent, but. So MADEC meaning body first or body-centered is kind of the latest buzzword and somatic. Isn't like a technique. It's not like a, like, I don't know.
[00:35:42] I saw a thread about it recently in a yoga teacher group. And it was annoying to me because it was like, people were like, yeah, it's like doing these specific things and like, no, it's somatic yoga. Is not. You know, All yoga is not somatic. Neither is any specific set of yoga. Definitely somatic, if that makes sense. What makes it so Maddick is less about the shape and more about the empowering, your awareness of sensations. And so that can be done in restorative that can be done in power yoga or not done in restorative or power yoga. Or anything in between. If that makes sense.
[00:36:16] So focusing on that. Awareness of sensations. Awareness of how the breath is related to the heart rate, to the speed of the thoughts to just overall nervous system regulation really important right now. And always, but right now, too, And so your journal prompts and I'm going to make an announcement. More like personal descript disclosure type stuff that maybe some people want to hear, but maybe not everybody. After the journal prompts. So first one, every yes is a no. To something else.
[00:36:51] So can you consider the things in your life? Maybe you make an exhaustive list of things that you're saying yes to. Right. Or at least a few concrete examples. What are you saying? Yes to right now? And what do you have to say? No, to. In order to make that happen. So it could be that you're saying yes to a lot of extra work, and you're saying no to some wellness practices in order to do that.
[00:37:15] Or maybe you're saying yes to a lot of wellness practices. And you're saying, having to say no to some, I don't know, timeout with friends or timeout drinking or whatever, you know, just think about. What it is. And maybe also consider how you frame that. And how that highlights. Your values, which leads us really well into the next question, which is what core beliefs and ideals do I hold most dear.
[00:37:41] And how do those beliefs and ideals shape my actions and decisions? And so this is a really easy one. To get really idealistic and be like, well, I think of myself as a person with integrity, but, um, I don't really keep promises to myself. I set an alarm thinking I'm going to get up and work out every day and I never get up and work out. Um, you know what I mean?
[00:38:02] And so it's like, are you maybe. Holding some ideals in your head that you don't. Actually do the behavior to align with right. Or. Vice-versa are you doing a behavior that kind of shows a different value than you profess to have? If that makes sense. So this is a, that's a tough one. That's a, like brutally honest with yourself, which is another Sagittarius vibe.
[00:38:25] So I'm just curious is like downside. Is maybe being a little bit too blunt. Right. So anyway, what excess or distractions can I eliminate to simplify my life and focus on what truly matters? So if, for example, you are not keeping commitments to yourself, like, what do you think is really getting in the way of that? Um, and how can you simplify to. Um, get back to the things that. Really mattered to you or that you profess matter to you and it feels like things are getting in the way, right? And then lastly, what practices helped me stay grounded and connected to my roots and how can I incorporate them more regularly? Regularly. Into my routine. And so that's your journal prompts?
[00:39:11] That's the episode. The announcement slash personal disclosure that I was talking about. It was like sort of how I'm working with this in my life. And it's so Sagittarius is. In my 10th house for my ascendant it's ninth from, um, or. Sorry. It's 11th from my moon. 10th from my ascendant. And so basically it's, it's impacting my career and it just so happened that. It kind of shook out this way based on a lot of previous events, which is interesting as a person who studies astrology. That today as I'm recording this just before I recorded this podcast, I. Shut down my membership, which has the Yogi scopes membership, which has been my longest standing offering. That I have offered as like a way to work with me. And it's taken on a lot of different forms.
[00:40:08] I've experimented with it. Um, Over the years. Over since I think 20, 21 I've had that. Uh, membership. And so it's been a long time and it breaks my heart to shut it down, especially for the folks that have were in it. From the very beginning. Like I hope you know how much I love you and how much I appreciate you for being a part of that.
[00:40:31] Right. Um, but it just became apparent that. It wasn't working in my life. Mostly. Like it was mostly me not wanting to do that kind of work that kind of offering anymore. And I guess that had to do with my in person. Like I now have this in-person location. Um, and things are a lot different than they were in 2021 and a global scale.
[00:40:55] And I'm sure, you know what I mean? Um, Things are different in my personal life. And this is sort of really the reason I bring it up this way. With the personal note is because this is an example of how to work with astrology. I am shutting down this big. Thing that has been a long time going. Um, and it's hard for like, that's not what I wanted to do.
[00:41:19] I wanted to hang on to it. I wanted to keep trying to evolve it, to make it something that I wanted to do. And I just, it. Was kind of a parent for a while now. Even with, maybe you notice with some recent changes I made. Um, I switched to a different platform and in a way to try to make it more streamlined. In my life and I just was like this isn't I don't want to do it.
[00:41:43] And if that's scary too. Let go of something. Without maybe necessarily something to replace it. So I don't have a backup, like this is what I want you to do instead. I guess I do. It's I, if you can come to in-person things here with me, I just go to Mars hill yoga.com. It's only in person offered and that's the only way to work.
[00:42:05] I do. You can still book readings. Um, With me. Uh, and I'm just going to enjoy that space, right. That top of the inhale for a little bit while I figure it out. And so that's an example. Of what I mean is like, this thing has come. To a culmination. It feels like, and it's time to just. Savor it just to save her, this, this space that I've just created. Right.
[00:42:32] Like I'm creating space by releasing that thing. And I'm just going to kind of hang out there for a moment without, um, Having like a next step. I don't know. Um, and that's a first for me because ever since I started this thing, I've had like, My promos for the year, like planned out and, um, sorta. More personal disclosure.
[00:42:57] I am a Aquarius moon. And so that means. Actually earlier this year, based on the degree of my moon. I went through the peak of my Saudi Sati and it felt really related to this. That's all I'm going to say about it. Um, and that feels like the thing. Then I'm letting go of which is the membership and that's super sad. So tomorrow. All of y'all that are in there.
[00:43:21] Lose access. And, um, so I'll send out an email of the signed by sign of this, instead of, because you won't have access to the platform where you've been accessing your signed by signs. Um, so I'll send it out in an email. And that'll be the last one that the one for this full moon. And it's just interesting to me. Because the quote that's been coming up this week is. Life was what happens to you when you're busy making other plans? And I've been making all these plans for this to grow. And be something, um, and it just life happened and it wasn't aligned.
[00:43:55] And so I'm letting it go. Even though I love it. And so maybe something like that. Is coming up for you. Where you're like, there's something that is good in a lot of ways that you maybe enjoy doing, um, enjoy saying yes to. Um, And you have to say no to it. Because you know that it's not truly aligned. So let me say more about why it's not truly aligned because it was not just the signed by signs and those may be what I bring back. Sooner than later in the meantime, I'll just send them out as emails, just because I'm in the habit of doing them.
[00:44:31] And so I'll probably continue doing them. But teaching yoga online. It's just not the same as teaching yoga in person and students that come to my in-person classes, validate that all the time. They're not as present. They're not as accountable. They're an, and I can see the statistics on who watches, what videos and people say they want it. And they don't use it.
[00:44:52] And I just don't want to participate in that. I don't want to try to be one of those platforms. That sells people, something that I know they're not going to use. Like that's not my ideal for how I want to exist and work in this life. And, um, Yeah. And there's more to it than that. It's just like online is good and it's fine. But in person is better.
[00:45:15] And so now I have this big in-person thing too. Focus on and grow. Um, and so I'm not saying it's the end of Yogi scopes. That's not what I'm saying. I'm just saying it's the end of the membership. Like I'm going to continue podcasting. Um, And it may not be the end of me offering an online course. I may transition to in-person or hybrid. Remains to be seen, but right now what I'm doing is focusing on that. Top of the inhale. Right.
[00:45:49] Like, I'm just going to be here. Right. Um, and explore it without trying to rush the next thing, which is a very yoga practice. Right. Um, and so I'll quit rambling about it. I hope that. You have the courage to say no. To something in your life because odds are like, I'm saying we have to be very discerning and sometimes we have to say no to things that. Are not bad. Right.
[00:46:20] If that makes sense. They're not. Um,
[00:46:26] Like. Completely bad or wrong, or maybe even at one point there was something that we really, really wanted and. And cultivated with intention like this membership. It's like something that was, has brought me a lot of joy. For a long time. Even until very recently. And so it just, anyway. Life happens like that.
[00:46:46] And I hope you keep your feet on the ground. And the stars. And stay in the light. And. One last little announcement, even though that sounded like the end is the next full movement. So this one for the summer solstice is sold out. The next one is on July 21st, which is guru Panama. And it's longer. It's more in depth.
[00:47:06] It's a full day retreat, not full days. Two 30 days, 30 PM. On guru Panama. And the tickets are like a deal y'all because there's like a meal included. You get yoga. You get, um, the community is just incredible. It comes to these things. We have some, a lot of repeat people. Um, It's included in membership here.
[00:47:30] So if you're local jump on that, um, and, uh, meals provided, we do forest bathing, which is nature therapies and incredible experience. Um, it's just always a really good time and worth it. So if you can make it plan ahead. Um, I have some more things up my sleeve to release soon in terms of. The retreat or retreat offerings that will largely for now for the rest of the year, really be on full moons. And that feels more aligned with something I set in motion. More than five years ago. Um, and so I'm just going to keep following my intuition and staying on track with that.
[00:48:10] So thanks for listening. Take good care of yourself. And I hope to see you talk to you soon.
