2024.11.1 new moon in libra
===
[00:00:00] We are approaching our very first new moon after this wild ride of an eclipse season. So the new moon is happening on Friday. November 1st 11 1 20 24 at 8:46 AM. It is in the sign of Libra in Swati. Tra. And so we'll say more about what that means. Of course it is a good time to tend to your roots so that you can grow with better suppleness and flexibility and grow in the direction perhaps that you want to grow. And so we'll talk a lot about the other astrological context happening around this new moon.
[00:00:41] Like this. Eclipse season that we're just kind of stepping out of. So we're, we've technically been out of eclipse season and technically ended it at the last full moon, but this is the first new moon where we've really had some time to kind of process and kind of. Um, get out of that. Maybe unclear or spiritually hazy, perhaps even confusing state that eclipse season kind of brings on.
[00:01:10] And so this, this time is good too. Set intentions around how you want to move forward with the new information that likely revealed itself to you during eclipse season. And so with that, I want to invite you to a very special event called through the portal because often we call eclipse seasons portals.
[00:01:32] And so now we're through the portal, but like now what we're probably all discombobulated, right? And so that event is happening this Friday. It is actually by invite only. And the only way to get an invite is to email me and ask for the details. And I'll say more about why. Because in a nutshell, Libra is all about, um, relationships and business.
[00:01:58] And, um, yeah, I'm just like reaching a point personally where I'm like, I don't want to have some big. Automated. Uh, business where I like send you links and you, you do the thing without interacting with me. I want to interact with you, um, because you likely have been listening. To the podcast. Um, for whatever length of time, and I just want to get back to interacting with folks.
[00:02:21] So, um, it's invite only if you're watching this where I'm recording it live the Yogi scopes live folks. You already have access. So don't worry about it. I'll say more about that at the end. And so with that said, I just want to officially extend you a warm welcome to the Yogi scopes podcast. I'm your host. Rose Holbrook.
[00:02:38] I am a Vedic side, serial astrologer. And a yoga therapist, which means for you and for the context of this. Podcast that I use the Vedic system of astrology, which uses this idea of Zodiac. So I think actually right now, it's in. No, maybe not for this. New moon, but I know for the last full moon. It was like, we had this idea Ariel's Zodiac.
[00:03:04] How did that like. You know, not even a degree of Aries. And so under the tropical Zodiac, it was also happening in areas that happens like maybe once a year where we'll have some overlap with the tropical Zodiac or with what. You know everybody else on the internet, especially if you're in a Western country. Is saying about like this as the astrology, it gets really confusing for folks.
[00:03:26] So if you're new, just, um, bear with me and know that the signs might be different than what you're used to. And if you want to calculate your Vedic birth charts. So not only does it use a different Zodiacs, so the signs are different, they're more astronomically accurate, which feels great to me, but the chart will look different.
[00:03:43] And so you can go to Yogi scopes.com/chart. To get your Vedic birth chart. There's also a handy, free little worksheet there that you can download to understand it. It's called the bird chart decoder. And so, yeah, just follow along. Let it be confusing. You'll enjoy it. Right. It's fine. Um, we're all here to learn.
[00:04:05] And so that's what we are. Here to do. So then in the yoga therapy context. We end every single one of these episodes with yoga practices and journal prompts to help you better. Embody these energies and do something practical with it because it's one thing to. To use astrology for like self-reflection, um, and just what I, what I experienced with a lot of folks when they first come to me or to like working with me, if they're very, very into astrology. Um, and they haven't been pairing it with yoga and with more embodiment practices in this way is it can lead to what we call in the yoga world, Vata imbalance, or upper chakra imbalance, where you're just like, Kind of anxious, scattered. Maybe even like disconnected from reality a little bit.
[00:04:51] And I don't mean that in like, um, Psychosis way. I mean that in like a, um, it just feels hard to implement in your life. And so we want to bring it down to the body, down to earth, down to the lower chakras. And that's through the embodiment practices, specifically yoga. So at the end of every episode, I will give you yoga practices and journal prompts to not just be like in thought loops about. These things, but to actually like do something with this information.
[00:05:18] So stick around to the end. For that. And let's talk about. The new moon. So. First, I always like to kind of explain. What a. New moon even is like, what, how do we make meaning of it? Astrologically it's when the moon and the sun. From our perspective on earth. I come to the exact same. Degree point in the sky. And so what that means is from our perspective, is there at the same degree point. Then the moon is not reflecting any of the light of the sun because it's on the same side of earth as the sun out a full moon. The, the moon is on the opposite side of earth as the sun.
[00:06:06] So it's reflecting all of the light. Of the sun that it possibly can. And so at a new moon, it's a dark moon. It's not reflecting any of the light. So it is a. I want to savor on this analogy, especially for this new moon in particular, it is like a, like the dark soil or dark, you know, the seed is planted in darkness, right?
[00:06:30] Like, um, There's this like cheesy saying that I'm totally going to butcher and don't know where it comes from, because I'm like the queen of knowing quotes that not knowing who said them. Um, And they're just all floating around in my little brain, but one of them is like, when you're in. Darkness. And thank you've been buried perhaps it's because you're a seed and you're going to sprout and you've been planted.
[00:06:55] Right. So, um, Yeah. So at the new moon is, that's why we say, and you might've heard this before that new moons are times to like set intentions or plant seeds. Because the moon is completely dark. And so when we think of what the moon does and what the moon represents in astrology, because of what it does in the night sky, that's where we get any of these. The meaning that we make in astrology is looking at like the astronomy and like what it's actually doing and kind of making meaning that way. Um, and then layering on these. These myths and these stories and these other archetypes too. To arrive at all of this meaning that we get.
[00:07:32] And that's what I'm here to explain to you on these podcast episodes. Um, is to try to kind of like pull the threads and pick it apart so that it makes sense into something that you can apply in your life. So at the new moon, the moon is reflecting none of the light of the sun. And it's only direction is up. From there.
[00:07:50] Like it, it only it's growing in energy, it's growing in light that it reflects because that's what the moon does. The moon reflects. Right. And so in astrology, because of that, The moon represents our mind and emotions are more, um, feminine side, whereas the sun is the more masculine side. And so that's the thing. But I want to talk about at this new moon too, because if the moon and sun are at the exact same point in the sky, that means if the new moon is in Libra, the sun is in Libra, too. And this is a big deal. Because the sun in Vedic astrology is considered debilitated in Libra. And so. Um, that sounds scary.
[00:08:37] I don't really like it. Like if I was making it up, I would have chose a different word other than be debilitated, because that always, it always sounds scary than it is. It just means that. The sun isn't able to express its qualities fully, because if you think of the qualities of Libra and the qualities of the sun, they seem kind of at odds.
[00:08:57] So Libra, just in a nutshell, and we'll explore this more as we dive into the archetypes for this new moon, but Libra represents relationships. It's the seventh sign, which means, you know, so it has connections to relationships. It also has connections to marriage to partnership, to. To business partnership and business relationships. And so, um, we'll talk more about this in a, in a moment.
[00:09:25] Hopefully the meaning will, will continue to get more clear. Um, but business is relationships like. Um, and I, and I mentioned this before. That's how business works. It's like, if you don't, if you aren't prioritizing relationships, your business is not going to be as successful. And I have learned that in various ways throughout the years, personally, um, and my husband, who's a Libra.
[00:09:50] Ascendant is like, The king of this. And so I see it play out in front of my face. Um, All the time. And so the sun though. So if Libra is all about relationships and like diplomacy and business, and the sun is about. Um, It's like your soul. And so it's, it's way more individual it's way more. Like I want to be the big, bright one that shines, whereas Libra the sign, the qualities of the sign are very concerned with the collective and relationships and not stepping on anybody's toes and not hurting anybody's feelings.
[00:10:29] And so those two things are kind of at odds with each other. And so. I've heard it said before. That, um, you know, if an astrologer planned. When the U S election cycle would be, it would certainly not, should not fall when the sun is debilitated because we're selecting our leaders. Right. When the sun is debilitated, which seems bad.
[00:10:52] Right. And I don't look at it that way because I think. We want to choose leaders. This feels a little extra poignant right now. Um, without. Directly calling out any of my political beliefs, but we want to choose leaders that are diplomatic and tactful and good at bringing the crowd together and, and, um, considering everybody's feelings and making the best choice based on that rather than based on themselves and what they want.
[00:11:21] And I think that is. A little extra clear in, in what's going on in us politics right now, but this isn't an episode about an election season. But it certainly is. A good example. And so we have this new moon. In Libra. And the sun is debilitated in Libra. And so I just wanted to give that example to describe kind of. What that means what the sun being debilitated and LIBOR means and how I, I almost never think that debilitation is a bad thing.
[00:11:51] Um, And. Hopefully that helped. Elucidate, what Libra kind of represents in a more practical, clear. Example. And so. Another, um, Important factor about this new moon that maybe makes it different than. Any other new moon in Libra is. We're just stepping out of eclipse season. And so we had, I wrote down in my notes that this is the first new moon in Libra. Since K2 was there last year and that's technically not true.
[00:12:30] So the, the last, um, new moon in Libra last November was. Um, technically in a new moon in Libra. After K2 left Libra. And so if that just like lost you because of jargon. Um, bear with me. What I mean is the sign of Libra. And so whether or not you are a Libra, ascendant or Libra moon, moon, it doesn't really matter.
[00:12:56] But if you are, I want you to especially perk up right now. Um, and if you don't know, you can get your [email protected] slash chart. And get the decoder so you can figure it out. Um, But regardless, even if you're not a Libra, ascendant or Libra moon, you have Libra somewhere in your chart. And so that area of your life where Libra sits, the house that Libra is in which the decoder can help you figure that out too. Um, and then you can spend some time with Dr.
[00:13:26] Google to figure out what that represents. Or you can go back to some of the resources I put out about it. And piece it together that way, but basically, um, Wherever Libra sits in your chart has probably been through some turbulence for the past. Like, I don't know. Two and a half, three years. And so. This is a big deal.
[00:13:48] This is a, and our lives just got shaken up in a big way. Um, As a result of eclipse season. And so this is the time to put your roots down and kind of think about how intentionally you want to step forward, especially as it relates to the qualities of LIBOR that I kind of was just explaining like that business, the diplomacy, the relationships, partnerships, those kinds of things, just in a general sense, but also, um, you'll look to where Libra sits in your chart to know maybe even with another layer of depth, Um, where you might be setting these intentions for. The new moon.
[00:14:27] And so just FYI also. Um, the weekly Yogi scopes that I put out that you can find on my website. Um, or also in this special new offering that I've been hinting at. And telling you that is. Um, super on the DL it's invite only. Like, I just want to have a conversation with anybody who's invited and all you have to do is email me.
[00:14:47] I sent out an email yesterday. You can reply to that one, or you can email [email protected]. There'll be available in there too, where I will just explicitly tell you, like, this is the area of life. For you based on your chart. Um, and so it's going to change. It's going to. Uh, change based on your chart and that's how you can get another layer of meaning of like, what should I be setting intentions around for this new moon?
[00:15:10] That's what makes this new moon different than any other new moon? Is the sign it's in and where that sign sits in your birth chart. And so I'm recording this live. Hey, Rochelle. Um, so I w normally would try not to do that, but this is the first time I'm bringing back the Yogi scopes live. So I'm just recording the podcast.
[00:15:29] Um, and I didn't actually say that on the recording that. Um, Uh, it's a live recording. And so there's folks joining me live, but. They're not going on the recording of what we'll go out on the podcast platforms. So we've talked about, um, what. Libra represents. Let's dive into the knock shot, tra where this is happening.
[00:15:52] So Swati is within the sign of Libra completely. Sometimes next Yatra. We'll bridge between two signs. Um, But this one is completely within the sign of Libra. And so it carries a lot of the same qualities of Libra, but interestingly, so I've just been harping on how Libra represents relationships and diplomacy and kind of. Um, You know, caring about. Making everybody happy.
[00:16:25] It'd be charming. Right? And relations relating with other people, business relationships, personal relationships. Um, and sort of a more collective vibe, right? Well, Swati than Citra where this new man is happening. Translates to the independent one. So that's already bringing up this sort of, um, Dichotomy, maybe symbiotic relationship between our independence and relationships.
[00:16:54] It's a S it's a super huge, like two sides of the same coin yourself, other balance. That's what we want to be considering. At this new moon. And so the symbol for Swati knock. and that's where the symbology is, where we get a lot of the meaning that we make. It's how we can consider how these things. Um, these subtle energies are showing up in our lives is by considering the symbolism.
[00:17:19] So the symbol for Swati knock Shandra is a young sprout quivering in the wind. Interestingly. Um, most have more than one symbol. And another symbol for this Yatra for Swati is a sword. And those two things feel kind of. At odds to me, or like, like very different symbolism when you start kind of diving into them.
[00:17:46] So a young sprout quivering in the wind seems like extremely vulnerable. Like I remember one of the first times I ever tried to start a garden, I planted some sunflowers. And as soon as I planted them in the ground, you know, I let them sprout inside my house, um, until they were like four or five inches high or whatever.
[00:18:05] And I, and I planted them in the ground and the next day a rabbit ate them. And so I'm just like young sprouts are so. Delicate and so vulnerable. Right? And. Uh, thing that I want you to kind of pay attention to about young sprouts, like these little fresh plants, seedlings, um, Is.
[00:18:27] They grow the roots first. So if you've ever like watched one, I don't know. I did a little experiment. My, my kids are in like preschool and, and this spring we did a thing where they sent some seeds home and you could watch it sprout in a little Ziploc bag. So it's clear. And so if you never like physically watched that, just know that it's true, that the roots grow down first. And then the sprout goes up and, and when the seed gets planted, it like. Orients itself, which is crazy to me. So, um, So, yeah, so they tend to roots first before. The top part even breaks through the ground. The roots grow first.
[00:19:08] And so I feel like that is. Related to this, um, you know, independence versus the collective and the relationships thing is like, If you want to be there for other people and really show up for them in relationship, then you also have to tend to your roots. First. That's like really coming up at this new moon. And then, so the sword. Um, Symbol. Is. It's more sharp and it's more cutting and it's like, wait, it's the opposite of this vulnerable little sprout that might make it, or might not.
[00:19:43] It might getting him by a rabbit or it might just, um, I don't know, blow over in the wind. Um, and with this, the little sprout being much more flexible and swaying and you know, but it's very connected via its roots. And then the sword is this like cutting. Finding things. So I just bring that up to say. That. Um, You know, what are the commonalities. Between those two things is, um, There, there is this like point of connection and stability to be able to go out and make those choices.
[00:20:21] And so.
[00:20:24] I the, if you've ever heard the like breakdown of the word, decide. The ending of that word side is like to kill like homicide, right? Um, and decide is to basically kill one of the two things that you're choosing between. Right? So, um, that sword. Analogy is coming up. So it's like, as we're in relationship, we have to continually make decisions. Between like, Making sure we are individually taken care of tending to our roots.
[00:20:56] Right. And then being there and swaying and being part of the. Collective right. So the ruling deity of Swati narc. is via you, the God of wind. And so Libra is also. An air sign. And so that, that wind archetype is really high right now. And I just want to point out that that's like common for this time of year, at least here in the Northern hemisphere where we're moving into Vada season. And so I spent some time to also talking about the sun. Being debilitated. And it's like, oh, that sounds scary. The sun is debilitated.
[00:21:29] Well, the days are getting shorter. And so that factors into the mythology too, is like that the sun is like having less of a focus at this time of year. The sun is out less. So that factors into like the reason the sun is considered debilitated here. And so. That's what we're experiencing here in the Northern hemisphere, the days are getting shorter.
[00:21:52] We're actually. You know, not at a time for new growth, we're at a time for tending to those roots. So maybe that's what you really consider at this new moon. So to recap, let's talk about the overall energies of all of the archetypes. I kind of just said, um, and then we'll talk about yoga practices and journal prompts.
[00:22:13] And for those that are here, live, I'll stop the. Recording. That's going out on the podcast and I will. Open the floor for Q and a. So, um, overall energies, this new moon. Time to set intentions, right in general at any new moon. Um, so what are you going to set intentions around perhaps business? If you have one, um, perhaps relationships, marriage partnerships. Um, And I just want to reiterate what I kind of started talking about before is that like business really is relationships. Um, So if you run a business, That's um, paramount, especially at this time, just in general.
[00:22:57] Um, and then.
[00:22:59] Yeah. How can you remain in those relationships, whether they're business relationships or not? How can you prioritize relationships? Because, um, I also want to point out, so whether it's business or not, Because that self other, um, archetype is coming up, that dichotomy is coming up really. Strongly at this new moon. Um, I want to point out that, that a lot of like spiritual stuff. A lot of the vibe I think I get in, in spiritual communities is that you should like find yourself right.
[00:23:35] And, and figure out your. Identity before. Entering into a relationship, right. That's kind of a message. Um, or if, uh, a relationship. Um, Hinders your spiritual progress or whatever, or, um, Your self-expression then you should like leave that relationship, but this is kind of. I'm not going to do justice to the explanation right now, but it's backed by psychology.
[00:24:03] Just trust me if you don't believe me, just ask me, um, is that we form a lot of our identities in terms of relationship and that is. Okay. Like it is okay too. Let a large part of your identity be like, for me, I'll just use myself an example that I'm a mom, I'm a wife like that. Those things form a large part of my identity and to a degree that's healthy attachment, right?
[00:24:28] It's not codependency. Like there's a fine line there. And that fine line is. In question for you to explore for yourself at this new moon is like, um, Can you tend to your roots and be flexible so that you contend to those relationships that it's okay. If you get some of your identity from being a mom, a dad, a sister, a wife. Uh, a cousin of whatever, a, a teacher, um, a student, like whatever.
[00:24:56] It's okay. If you form some of those identities. Um, because we need those things right. And so can you tend to your roots so that you can remain rooted in your essence and your truth while also, also being flexible enough, like that little sprout blowing in the wind or the sword to cut through the air and make those decisions that you need to make?
[00:25:21] Um, Yeah. So can you embrace that rootedness? Can you root down into.
[00:25:30] The earth because, and that's also at this time of year, like we're not at a new growth time of year, unless you're in the Southern hemisphere. If you're in the Northern hemisphere, we're in the time of year where we're headed into tending to the roots rather than new growth. So can you tend to your roots, can you consider your relationship with. Independence hyper independence or co-dependence.
[00:25:56] And we want to find that. Interdependence where it's okay. That we formed some of our identities within relationship, but we also have like, we're rooted in our own truth. And we can be that version of ourselves in the relationships that we're in. If that makes sense. Um, so it's also an important time at this new moon to reflect on, um,
[00:26:18] What diplomacy means to you.
[00:26:21] So, and that's, that's where it's like the fine line with, um, Co-dependence like, we don't want to just be go along to get along in a way that, um,
[00:26:32] Uh, steps on our own toes. Like we don't want to try to not step on everybody else's toes so much that we actually harm ourselves. Right. We tend to those roots first.
[00:26:40] And so can you. Pour into your own cup in a way that you can, um, invite some of that Libra is ruled by Venus. So think of those venous qualities of like, um, Luxury and femininity and charm and, and that kind of stuff. Can you lean into some of that and like invited in. At this new moon. And so the yoga practice, hopefully the journal prompts will help you, like kind of sort through some of those energies in your own life.
[00:27:11] So the yoga practices. We want to practice. I would say start with just deep belly breathing. Um, and if you would like to, you can move into. Naughty Shona. And so also I want to point out, I'm bringing back Monday meditations, where on Mondays, I'll give you a. Um, meditation for kind of whatever's going on astrologically and on. This coming up one, we will do a. We'll do some naughty show now, um, more than likely we will do it energetically.
[00:27:46] And so you'll just have to come. And if you want to. So, um, if you want to practice that, and then also one footed. Balancing poses are really indicated at this time, because of that Swati. Like, can you, can you connect to that one? Teeny tiny little. Uh, you know, surface area of rootedness and feel yourself kind of sway and maintain your connection to those roots, like the little sprout in the wind.
[00:28:12] And can you like really feel that in your body and connect. With that archetype, when you do that. And then, um, also I would say throughout the rest of like, if you were to do like a flow style class, or even just like a gentle, uh, movement-based class, you would want to connect to. What your pelvis is doing.
[00:28:31] And so maybe even in those balancing poses, but also through the rest of, can you create that balance? Um, in your pelvis from left to right in front to back. Um, because Libra rules over the lower abdomen and kind of like that pelvis area of the body. So if you can really connect to that and connect to balance through one foot of balancing naughty show, no balancing the sides of the body. Um, That would be. Good to embody these energies of these archetypes we've been discussing.
[00:29:03] And so finally, your journal prompts. One. How do I handle external pressures? So like that those winds of change I was talking about. And where can I allow myself to bend without breaking and then maybe related to that is like, what. What are my roots to get me through those moments? Like what makes me feel grounded when the winds of change are really. Kicking up.
[00:29:27] And then second question. What does true diplomacy mean to me? And how can I embody it more fully? In my relationships. So. I just want to reiterate. That that, um, we can give.
[00:29:43] Selflessly in relationships when we have tended to our own roots in our own hearts. And so I just want to leave you with that and then extend you this invite to, if you want to come to these. Fun things I've been alluding to like the live recording of the podcast where you can stick around for Q and a afterwards. If you want to come to those Monday meditations that I'm bringing back, maybe you've heard of them. Maybe you haven't. Um, they were wildly popular when I did offer them. Um, and so I'm bringing them back where we'll, I'll just give you an update of like what astrologically we're connecting to with the practice, and then we'll do some gentle movement. And some guided meditations, 30 minutes. Uh, on a Monday morning, you can catch the recording if you can't make it live because it is 6:00 AM Eastern time, which if you're on the west coast, it's like 3:00 AM and you're not coming to that, but there'll be a recording. And then the event this Friday. Through the portal considerate a new moon event. Where we'll have some, even more in depth journaling than what I've just shared here. Um, and we'll also talk about. Kind of we'll kind of process through the messages of eclipse season, because it's probably these past, like two months, it probably been a wild ride for most of you because of eclipse season.
[00:30:52] So we'll talk about what happened. We'll talk about how the eclipse season six months from now is going to be even. More intense, perhaps more transformative, more wild. Then this one that we just came through. So we'll talk about that. And if you want to come. Um, you'll need to email me [email protected] or if you're already. On my email list, look out for an email that you can reply to. Um, 'cause I it's Libra.
[00:31:17] It's a new, a new offering in my business, which is Yogi scopes. And I only want to extend it to people who feel. Comfortable enough emailing me, like when I want to have a relationship with you, I don't want to just send you a link and you click purchase and it's automated. Like let's talk, it's a new moon in Libra.
[00:31:34] So let's spark this astrological relationship. So please remember to keep your feet on the ground, your head in the stars and stay in the light until next time. Take. Good care of yourself.
