2024.11.13 full moon in aries
===
[00:00:00] We are approaching our second full moon in Aries in a row. So this one is happening on Friday, November 15th. 2024, around four, 20 8:00 PM Eastern time. And this podcast episode, we're going to talk all about it. Cause there's also a lot of other stuff happening that day. Um, the sun is moving to Scorpio to sidereal Scorpio, just. Couple hours, a few hours after the full moon, a few hours before the full moon, Saturn is finally going direct in Aquarius.
[00:00:35] So these things matter. These will affect the vibes of this full moon, which we are here to talk about. So first I like to extend you a warm welcome to the Yogi scopes podcast. I'm your host rose Holbrook. I'm a Vedic sidereal astrologer, which means when I say the sun's moving to Scorpio. Probably most folks out there on the internet are like the sun's about to move to Sagittarius.
[00:00:58] It's about to be Sagittarius season and here and using this idea aerial system, which is more. Astronomically accurate. The sun is actually about to move to Scorpio, not Sagittarius. So we'll talk about what that means. I actually also have some things to say. Um, About that, that I will likely say after the podcast is over.
[00:01:20] So, uh, another thing I want to say, I'm a yoga therapist, just as part of my introduction, which means at the end of all these podcast episodes, We'll end with some yoga practices and journal prompts because that's sort of, my specialty might give my area of expertise. To help you take that these astrological concepts. And apply them to your yoga practice.
[00:01:39] And we always have journal prompts to, with the idea to help you bring all this, this sort of cerebral HETI sometimes maybe Vada imbalanced or upper upper chakra imbalance kind of ungrounded. Astrological concepts down into your body and into your life in a practical way. So we always end the podcast episodes that way.
[00:01:59] And now recently I, I tested it out this summer. And it was fun and worked well. So I'm bringing back Yogi scopes live, which means if you are a member of the 100 healers circle, which is another offering that I sort of shut down around. April of this year, I'm relaunching it in a way that hopefully will lead less to me burning out, which is what happened before.
[00:02:26] If you are a member of the 100 healers circle, you can come live to the podcast recording. I record the podcast and then I stopped the backup recording. Which is the video and an audio that goes out on to YouTube and the podcast platforms. Um, I stopped that recording, but I continue recording in the, um, in our community for folks to ask questions and have discussion.
[00:02:51] And so. After the podcast recording today, we're going to talk some about Pluto and the American revolution. And because we've all, many of us have heard out there on the internets and things that the last time Pluto was like where it is now that, um, was the time of the American revolution. And so under this idea of Zodiac, it's in Capricorn under. The tropical Zodiac, which is what everybody on the internet is sort of using.
[00:03:20] It's an, they're saying it's just to move to Aquarius. And so I have, I did some research. I have more to say about it. Um, but it's not part of this podcast episode. So I will say after I stopped this recording, I'm sure it will. Make its way into our Q and a, because actually one of the people that I was chatting with about it is here live.
[00:03:36] So. Welcome to the podcast. I hope you'll join me live at super fun. Let's talk about the full moon in Aries. Oh, and just quick to finish that last thought. Um, if you would like to join the 100 healers circle, if you remember that I was just sort of starting to call it that it's, it's had a few names over the years.
[00:03:55] I've been. Testing things. And, um, so if you remember the 100 healers circle and you want to get back in. Shoot me an email and I'll send you the invite. Otherwise it's not, it's not publicly open for enrollment just yet, but if you want to join, all you have to do is email me. Um, And I expect to. Really sit for public enrollment. Sometime soon before the end of the year, probably. End of November, December.
[00:04:24] We'll see. So let's talk about the full moon. As I mentioned, it's happening this Friday around 4:28 PM Eastern time, which all that matters for that. When I, when I tell you the time it's like that, I look it up in my fancy astrology software. And that is the time the astrological peak of the full moon when the moon and sun come to the exact same degree point of, so the sun is. At the moment of the full moon is in. Um, Libra. But this full moon is happening the degree point where they can join where they come to the same degree point where the, the moon over in Aries is at 29 degrees and 48 minutes.
[00:05:06] So that's about half a degree. Away from moving the right after. I mean, within like an hour after the full moon, after this peak, the moon will have moved on to tourists where Jupiter is retrograding as well as Uranus has retro grading. And then within a few are about five hours. As I mentioned earlier, that the sun. Is moving on to Scorpio.
[00:05:33] So this full moon is happening in areas. It's the second one in a row. Our last full moon was in the very beginning degrees of Aries. And so, um, that's meaningful. I'll say more about it. Um, But then the other things that we have going on that day, so the sun's moving to Scorpio. This full man's happening in Aries, as you may know, or maybe you don't know both Aries and Scorpio are the two signs ruled by Mars.
[00:06:00] I'm going to say more about all of these sort of. Um, connections and the night sky, everything is just feeling a little bit extra. Connected right now, it's always all connected. And this is the thing that we're sort of exploring. As we study astrology is, is everything's happening all the time and everything's always connected.
[00:06:19] And how do we make sense of that? Right? Like how do we muddle through that? And the astrology is a fantastic tool. To muddle through that. So we'll muddle through it together over the course of this episode, um, how all these things are connected. Right now. But before I dive too much into the full moon, I want to talk about Saturn going direct because it isn't happening.
[00:06:41] Around 9:00 AM.
[00:06:42] 9:20 AM is the time I have written down in my notes. And so I was just telling you this because it's like, it doesn't really matter. Like is. So I have the time just use the time as a reference point. It's not like, I don't believe that you need to, like at 4 28, be like doing your full moon practice. What you need to know is that like Friday evening? Of this week is the peak of the full moon.
[00:07:04] The moon will be in its full phase though for about a day before and a day after the day of, so it's about a three-day period that the moon is in its full phase. And so if you do some kind of full moon practice, like Thursday night, Friday, Saturday, it doesn't matter. Anytime this week, I think you'll get the benefit.
[00:07:23] It doesn't have to be like right at the moment of the peak. So we just use that as a reference as sort of like a center point. I, if you will. And so the same thing with Saturn going direct, especially because, so if I'm telling you a full moon phase, Lasts about three days, Saturn stays in a sign for closer to three years.
[00:07:43] That's like two to two and a half years status. Saturn stays in a sign. The F the moon stays in a sign for about two to two and a half days. And so this is a much longer. Thing going on with Saturn Saturn's retrograde last four or five, six months. I think this one was right about four months. Um, And so the day, so when I'm like Saturn goes direct at nine 20, I don't know that you'll notice anything.
[00:08:10] Maybe you will. I think you should pay attention. Uh, and that's the reason I'm telling you any of this stuff, because I think we should all pay attention and see what we notice. But just know that Saturn's movements are, tend to be much more subtle Saturn's movements tend to be more like the undercurrent of our life, like the rip current.
[00:08:30] So we explored this last week on Yogi scopes live, which I actually did not release that episode. If you're listening to this on the public podcast, you'll notice I didn't put out an episode last week. And so now I guess this is the sort of model that I'm moving to is like, if. I reserved the right to do that sometimes.
[00:08:48] But if you are in the 100 healers circle, um, there's a recording. There is, um, we still had a discussion last Wednesday was a pretty big day in the us. So, um, yeah. So that's there, but I didn't end up putting it out on the public podcast episode. And we talked a lot about these more undercurrent type forces.
[00:09:10] Like we talked about Saturn, Jupiter, Raku, and K2. Um, and some of these, these longer term things going on. And the analogy is like, it's more like the rip current of our lives. And we can either, you know, if you grew up somewhere near an ocean, you learn about. Recurrence and you don't. Want to just become, you don't want to not swim at all because then you'll get carried out to see. Uh, but you also don't want to try to swim against it.
[00:09:39] Right? You want to try to swim. You know, parallel to the shore, parallel to the current. Or I guess that would be perpendicular to the current. Right? So, so the analogy with that is we with the astrology, if Saturn is creating a rip current in our life, We don't want to just become dead weight and like, act like we have no control over our situation, but we do have to realize that Saturn and these longer, longer term, slower moving planets will. Um, Create currents in our life that we just can't swim against.
[00:10:12] And that's what we want to pay attention to. So, um, there are Saturn. Episodes out and posts up on the blog on the weekly. The scopes page on UV scopes.com. But what I want you to know on the day of the full moon. Is that. You might notice after this Friday, it'll just sort of, kind of start to creep in on Friday. That.
[00:10:38] You may experience fewer delays, things that you felt stuck on or feel like you just haven't. Uh, been able to figure out, or your routine has been changing around after Friday, you might finally feel like you've settled into a routine and that you have some sort of like a little bit more forward momentum forward movement and things like your long-term goals.
[00:11:01] Um, Social causes is really coming up because Saturn is in Aquarius. And so I'll say more about that. I'm happy to answer questions in the Q and a portion after the episode. I'll also, I have a little blurb written about it already. That will go in the weekly Yogi scopes blog post for this episode. But what I do want you to know is that it's happening the same day. As the full moon.
[00:11:24] So let's talk about what the full moon means. And then when we circle back at the end with the recap overall energies, Yoga practices and journal prompts. Hopefully it'll all make sense. How it's all tied together. So this full moon is happening. In Aries. It's the second one in a row in Aries, inside urial Aries.
[00:11:43] The first one about a month ago, a lunar cycle ago was in the very early degrees of Aries. This one is in within a half of a degree. From being, not in areas from the end of Aries. So, um, the vibes are different, so it's both airy there. They both happened in Aries, but. In Vedic astrology, we have this concept called Which is basically lunar mansions. They're like signs.
[00:12:11] They function like signs, but there are more of them, which means I'm going to give you a little fractions lesson. If the night sky is a pie. And it's divided up by 12 into 12 slices, right. Which are the signs. The slices are going to be bigger than if you have to divide that pie by 27 slices. And so those 27 slices. R the knock shot Therese. So they function exactly like signs.
[00:12:39] There are sections of the sky that have, you know, a planetary ruler. Uh, deity just like signs. Do they have vibes? And when the planets moved there, like the moon. When they move through these. Sections of the sky. They. Um, We'll give a different expression. It's kind of like looking through a prism, right?
[00:13:03] That's what the signs do. They'll, they'll kind of distort the energy in a certain way. And so that's what we're exploring. Like, what can we expect through looking at. The archetypes of both the sign. And the knock shot tree. That's kind of like what we're doing here. With astrology. And so the full moon in Aries in general, because Aries is a fire sign.
[00:13:27] It's ruled by Mars. It's the first sign of the Zodiac. It has this very like, um, individualistic, independent, um, Headstrong fiery. Energy to it. And so those qualities are heightened. Due to the fact that this full moon is in Aries. And the knock shatter the lunar mansion where this particular full moon is happening is Kritika. And so Critica as the name implies, because it's a very like, It's like sharp consonants in the name Kritika.
[00:14:05] Um, it is a sharp knock Shakira. So it's translation means the cutter. Or the one who cuts and it is. Symbolized by either a razorblade or like an ax or also just a flame. And so we know Aries is a fire sign, right? So that energy's already heightened, ruled by Mars that, so that's bringing up this fiery energy. And the ruling planet of Kritika is the sun. And the ruling deity is Omni.
[00:14:42] So we've been exploring Omni actually within the 100 healers circle because a number of us in here. Are doing an aggravated cleanse right now. So we're really thinking a lot about Omni and. Um, increasing our digestive fire. So that's just about all of the fire archetypes that we could think of. Um, under this philosophy are being brought up by this full moon.
[00:15:06] So the sons involved. Being the ruling planet of the Knuck. Shastra. Tra Mars is involved being a ruling planet of, um, Aries and Omni is involved. It's being brought up by this. Uh, Tra. So let's just kind of dive into that fire archetype and consider what it means. So. Mars and the sun. Are both involved.
[00:15:34] And so I would say Mars is the.
[00:15:41] It's like doing stuff. Mars is. A planet of action, a planet of like, let's go out and fight. Let's go do the things. And the sun is. It's more like the soul planet. So it's like, if Mars is like, let's go out and do things. The sun is like, let's just like be radiant, right. And be this thing. And so they're both, um, Expressions of fiery energy.
[00:16:10] And so I want you to kind of understand this, like how it applies to your life is like, how is fire energy coming up in your life? Are you the more action oriented expression or are you the more like radiant? Uh, Are you showing or are you doing, and I'm not saying one is better or worse. Um, and hopefully the journal prompts and the yoga practices can help you find a balance. Um, in your life with these energies and consider, um, how they're showing up.
[00:16:45] And so one thing that might be showing up, or one thing that you might need to work with is. Um, with critical being the cutter. The, this idea of cutting away is sort of synonymous with this fire energy. So the fire is like burning off, um, impurities. But I don't really like to think of it that way.
[00:17:11] Cause I don't know. I think it gets a little bit like purity culture. Um, I have beef with the purity culture that.
[00:17:21] I'm going to go ahead and go on this tangent. So, uh, I was like, I don't want to stop myself, but I won't. So, um, purity culture, I grew up primarily Christian. I grew up in the Bible belt south of, Southeast of the United States.
[00:17:33] And, um, I grew up in an Episcopal church myself, but. Oh, most of my friends were Baptist. So I grew up in both the Baptist church and the Episcopal church. And so there's purity culture in that way. And the Christian way, which we see what that purity culture is sort of doing to us politics right now.
[00:17:52] Um, and I'm not going to say any more about that. But in Vedic philosophy, what the purity culture that I think we're wrestling with sometimes as householders, because this, especially for the folks that I'm guiding. Through the aggravated cleanse right now. We're householders. Like, if you are listening to this on your smartphone and you're like, have a job, or even if you like, don't have like, you have a house to run, you live, you know, we're not like living in an Ostrom somewhere.
[00:18:25] We. Our householders, like, I can almost guarantee that you're a householder. If you're listening to this. And so if you're not a householder, I would love to hear from you because that would be fascinating to me. If I have like monks listening to my podcast, I, I definitely want to hear from you, but for most of us, if you're listening to this, like I hate to break it to you, but you're a householder and most of yoga philosophy is written for. People that are living in that Asher on lifestyle.
[00:18:51] And so I just point that out because I'm like the business model of the Ostrom lifestyle is at odds with the business model of being a householder, like the way that you get your needs met. Um, Doesn't really work unless you're going to live the complete monk lifestyle. And I just also, like, I don't think we can all do that.
[00:19:12] Like I think some people, I think this is supported by the Bhagavad Gita too. Like this is also supportive in the philosophy that we need to be out there doing stuff. Uh, we can't all just be protecting our peace to the point where like nothing ever gets done. Right? So there's a balance here. And this balance is being brought up by this full moon, which is why I went ahead and went. On this tangent. Because.
[00:19:34] And so the, the purity culture thing. Is that. Most of the philosophy is for people who are going to live that more ascetic monk-like lifestyle, which means you are removing yourself from the world and you are. And it views really like the yoga sutras view, the body as impure. And something that we should want to transcend.
[00:20:00] And so that to me, so this is a balance, right? Like I teach the yoga sutras. I use them in my meditation practice in my teaching, in my life. Right. Like, so. We have to take this with a grain of salt though, that, um, it is at odds. Like, if you are going to be out there in the world being a householder and like doing things in the world. You can't necessarily transcend the body. Completely, right.
[00:20:25] Like we're not trying to ignore our body's needs because it's impure. I don't think that's the goal. I think we have to find a different balance. And so this full moon would be a good time to consider that balance. So I just want you to. I have that in your awareness. To not slip too far into purity culture. Unless you really like want to be a monk that transcends your body or like it, it's also helpful, I guess. Um, at the end of life or with aging, that it's like, you are more than your body.
[00:20:57] So those parts are helpful. But I'm viewing the body as something to be grossed out by or something to like dissociate. It just it's it's giving like dissociation to me and we want to be embodied. Not dissociate from our body because it's impure. So hopefully that, that made that tangent makes sense. Um, And like the, the paradigm of a lot of the yoga philosophy is. That more like transcend your body because it's impure.
[00:21:28] And I would be a proponent of. Be more embodied, learn to live in your body, learn to love your body. Right. Um, That's that's really what I'm trying to do here with this podcast in general. So, Um, that's when I'm like, I don't really like the word and purity the fire to burn off impurities. Like we're not trying to. Destroy our body kill it with fire.
[00:21:52] Right. What we want to do is have. This is. Let's talk about the bog of idea, because that's the other expression of this fire energy. So the Bhagavad Gita is a story. Of. Argene is talking to Krishna. And so RGN is a warrior and he's found, this is like a really long story short, um, that I'll try to do justice for how it's related to this full moon. And Krishna is, is a deity, right?
[00:22:23] And so he's come down into like a people forum to talk to RJ and, and Arjun is like, uh, going to war with some people who were like members of his family really like extended family cousins or whatever. And he's like, well, I don't want to kill or hurt these people because they're my family. And, and because I love them for whatever reasons and. And, but they're like wrong right there, whatever the case is, like why they were fighting. There was some reason that. This cause needed to be fought for, but, but he was struggling because he didn't want to fight these particular people because he loved them.
[00:23:01] They were his family and it felt wrong to. Fight them or to be violent towards them. Um, and so. Krishna is basically saying throughout the story, like painting the picture of why. If something is in your Dharma to do, if it's a just cause you have to do it. And this is where it gets kind of complex with this idea of like violence or non-violence. Um, It's like, you have to fight for what's right.
[00:23:31] If it's come in front of you to fight for such a thing. And so this is what I was getting at before is like, we can't all just sit in a cave and. And remove ourselves from society. Like some people need to be out there. Um, fighting for just causes and. So that's the tough balance, right. And that is really coming up. At this full moon in a big way is like, What. Is your fire, your thing that you need to fight for. And can you protect that? Uh, fire. If that makes sense, your internal fire.
[00:24:09] And can you like. Burn off the things that are maybe not yours to, to carry or to fight for. And so we want to protect that army, that internal fire. Because we do all like, according to the Bhagavad Gita. And some other, you know, sections of the yoga philosophy we need to be out there. Um, Doing stuff like living our Dharma fighting for just causes. And putting the next right step forward.
[00:24:42] Right. And so, um, That takes discipline that takes.
[00:24:50] Um, Getting out there and doing stuff and it's really hard. And when you get out there and do stuff or likely to accumulate things, and so at this full moon, maybe you consider what you're accumulating. That's either not yours to accumulate or it's like smothering your fire. All right. Does that make sense?
[00:25:10] Hopefully, that makes sense. So we'll move into, um, Your overall energies and yoga practices to help hopefully tie this all together and journal prompts to help you figure out what you're going to do. In your life about this. So the first overall energy I would say is there is this very like critical. Or cutting.
[00:25:38] Um, and so critical. Like that can show up. So maybe around the time of the full moon, try to not be like so harsh or critical with your word. Try not to be cutting with your tongue. Um, I would say that comes up more on the tourist side of. Critical but it could, it could be possible here. So try not to be, try not to like lash out emotionally, but also maybe you spend some time around the full moon being critical of. Like your life and cutting away things that are, this is what we would call discernment using discernment, which is like keen decision-making. And you have to that that has a sharp quality to it, right?
[00:26:16] Like, um, sometimes you have to cut away things that are not bad things they're not inherently bad. They're not. Um, maybe even bad for you. They're just not, they're like sub optimal and we have to recognize that we only have so much capacity. And so there's this destructive quality at this full moon at this Tra.
[00:26:39] And so that is the. Archetype of fire, really? Like fire is destructive, but it's also really purifying. Right? It's like strike while the iron's hot kind of thing. It's coming up and that's that. Little cliche just came. To me as I was talking. And that is really, um, with Saturn going direct on the same day, if you are presented with some kind of opportunity to strike while the iron's hot, this, I would say would be a good time to do that.
[00:27:11] Especially in terms of like longterm goals or things you felt stuck on. As Saturn has been. Retrograded. So, um, with the ruling planet of the noxious. Tra. Being the sun. This has like a really soft VIT quality. So can you consider, um, the fire of purification in your life and where can you increase Saatva in your life?
[00:27:40] So, Um, maybe you slow. Always on a full moon. It's time to slow down and reflect. But with this full moon being on a day that Saturn is going direct, it would be a really good time to sort of reflect on, um, The time that Saturday has been retrograde and consider where you want to move on places that you've felt stuck as it felt stuck.
[00:28:05] And then it's also a good time for shadow work with the sun, moving to Scorpio just right after that, that's really just like shadow work time, like sun in Scorpio. And shadow work time. So if. You're feeling like you need to cut things away or like, where do you use discernment? Uh, how do you use discernment?
[00:28:26] How do you decide? Cause that's what, like most of us, I would say struggle with is like the actual deciding part is the hard part. And that's what most of us are coming to astrology. Um, Four is like for help with. Uh, Tapping into that discernment of like, what is actually right when maybe it's like, something feels true to us, but it's not true to somebody else.
[00:28:50] Or like we've never seen anybody else sort of like making decisions in that way. And it maybe feels weird. Um, so that's, that's what we're here for, right. Is to use this astrology to get. More into our truth and, and pay attention to the subtle energies and make choices from that more informed place. So. So how do we do that?
[00:29:12] Like what, what are we do? You know? It's like, okay. Yeah, I use discernment, but like how, okay, so here's your yoga practices that will hopefully help. Um, we want to increase that Omni because I've found that when you're on me as higher in terms of your digestive fire, Um, That these things like making decisions and using this discernment, they do come easier.
[00:29:36] It's very third chakra, right? Um, and so you'll want to enhance AMI and I will have, you know, in the blog, in the companion blog posts that I make for this episode, I'll have a whole bunch of ideas listed there for how to. Increase AMI. Um, But that just, I don't know. That seems like. Like all I need to say about it here in whatever way, you know, how focus on increasing your Omni, your digestive fire at this full moon, and maybe potentially also releasing habits that are hindering your digestive fire. And then, so you might also, you could do, there are a couple of different perennial mamas. Because that can help.
[00:30:19] So one of them is Kampala. Bazzi the skull shining. Breath. Um, you might also do, uh, the Omni Saara. Is that I would consider that like more of a Korea, um, And you could also do Suria bay, Donna, the sun piercing breath, which is. It's a it's related to Nadi. Shodhana the alternate nostril breathing, but so there's Chandra bay, Donna, which is going. Uh, it's, it's like a circle through the inhaling through left exhaling through right. And, um, Ceria bit.
[00:30:56] Donna is for the sun. And it's inhaling through the right and exhaling through the left. And going in a circle like that. And then you might also do twisting yoga poses. Is it also be a great time for a fire ceremony if there ever was one I'm a big fan of a fire ceremony, kind of at any full moon, but, um, definitely for this one. Considering, especially fears, limiting beliefs and patterns that you want. To release, like write it down on a piece of paper, burn it.
[00:31:31] And with fire safety at the forefront of your mind. Um, And then you might also like a top us practice to increase this discipline, which is coming up with the Saturn direct. Um, and. Um, The sort of Omni the fire of Mars and the sun, like all the fire archetypes that are coming up at this full moon. How you practice top us is choosing maybe one disciplined action that you're going to commit to for the next whole entire lunar cycle.
[00:32:05] So like until the next full moon and hopefully beyond, but maybe you just commit for that long. Just like one. Action that you're going to do with discipline every single day. It could be a dietary change. It could be meditating. It could be journaling every day, like whatever. Um, It could be getting up at a certain time.
[00:32:23] I would encourage you to make something really simple, um, because you're more likely to stick to that. And then when you stick to it, it builds. So. Your journal prompts. His first one. How are you fueling your inner fire?
[00:32:43] And that's just really intentionally. Open-ended so just free write about that. Number two. Um, have you been letting anything smother your fire? What needs to be cut away or burned away to let your. True passions, burn brighter to let your inner fire burn brighter.
